Resting Priest, Church of the Nativity

  • Rich Wiles

  • Description:

A Priest rests inside the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Palestine. Many Christians consider this church to be the site of the birthplace of Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago. In more contemporary history, the church was the site of the 2002 'Siege of the Church of the Nativity' during which more than 200 Palestinians were surrounded in the church by the Israeli army for more than 5 weeks. By the end of the siege, eight Palestinians had been killed and many more were exiled either to the Gaza Strip or Europe.
