Aida Refugee Camp

    On New Years Day 2011 dark clouds hang over Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem, Palestine. The camp, which houses approximately 4,700 Palestinian refugees, was established by the United Nations Releif and Works Agency in 1950 following the Palestinian Nakba, or catastrope, which saw around 750,000 Palestinians forced from their homes and lands between 1947-49. Aida Refugee Camp is the only refugee camp within the area of Palestine today refered to as the West Bank that is bordered by the Apartheid Wall which surrounds the camp on two sides.Over 50 of the camp's population are under 18 years old.
