Mar Girgis Church St George, Coptic Cairo, Egypt

    The original church of Mar Girgis traces back to the 7th century and is believed to have contained remains of or relycs from St.George. During the crusader attacks and the fire of Fatimid Cairo, the church was ruined. The present church was reconstructed in 1909. Since the 15th century the church is regarded as a Greek Orthodox Church.
